Our paper on the role of a specific mitochondrial mRNA modification in regulating mitochondrial function—both under physiological conditions and in Alzheimer’s disease—has been accepted by Molecular Psychiatry!

“N1-methylation of adenosine (m¹A) in ND5 mRNA leads to complex I dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease”

This study highlights how mitochondrial RNA modifications can directly impact respiratory chain function, offering new insights into the molecular basis of neurodegeneration.

It was a great collaborative effort, primarily with the Helm group, but also with valuable contributions from the Motorin, Endres, Gerber, Rossmanith, and Methner groups.

A special thanks to Marko, Johanna, and all the brilliant scientists involved—this was true team science!
